CAGE Design Build’s Communication and Expectations

March 22, 2011

Kitchen plans and materialsHere at CAGE Design Build, we’re known for building and fulfilling expectations, in addition to frequent communication throughout the entire process. Don’t just take our word for it, though. Here’s what Chris Davy told us following a bathroom remodel:

“ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! That’s how I would describe working with CAGE Design Build…David and Kelly provided excellent personal service and kept me informed through every step of the remodel. David and the sub-contractors were conscientious of my privacy and always kept the work area clean. This is the first time I’ve ever had a room remodeled, and I’d heard stories about what a nightmare remodeling could be, but Kelly and David made the entire process seem easy and finished the job on schedule. Everything turned out better than I could have imagined, and now I have a bathroom that looks amazing. I highly recommend CAGE Design Build.”

We know that when the client knows what’s going on and what sort of timeline they should expect, projects are completed in a much healthier environment. So what does our process look like?

At the very beginning of a project, the client meets with both of us – David and Kelly. They remain in direct contact with us throughout the entire process – up until the project is complete.

Right from the beginning, we let our clients know what to expect in terms of planning and project timelines. We utilize Microsoft Project to create a schedule for the client and our sub trades to follow, in addition to arranging a pre-construction meeting about a week prior to construction so our staff can meet with the homeowner. During this meeting, we go over:

  • Job site protection.
  • Porta potty placement.
  • Items that need to be saved.
  • Which items to remove from adjacent walls to keep damage from occurring.
  • The schedule, including start and end times.
  • Any concerns the client may have.

Kitchen islandOne thing we always stress with clients is to keep us in the loop, too, and to let us know if there is anything that starts to bother them during construction. This lets us fix the problem right away and prevents it from becoming an even bigger concern.

Another item we always cover with clients is a warning that the project will be dusty. To help keep the area orderly for the duration of the remodel, we sweep every night to reduce the dust and remove excess debris every Friday so the project is clean over the weekend.

We know remodeling can be very stressful for homeowners. Our goal is to make it as pleasant as possible. How can we make your next home remodel a positive experience?
