Green Building: What Does It Actually Mean?

June 21, 2011

There are a lot of sustainable resources out there, but do you know what green building actually means? As it turns out, eco-friendly construction is about more than recycled products; it’s about quality materials and quality work.

C.A.G.E. Design Build is proud to be owned and operated by Certified Green Building Professionals. In addition to using sustainable materials whenever possible, we make sure our construction is eco-friendly, too. For example, when we install plumbing fixtures, we make sure it’s done correctly to prevent leaks; yes, this saves the homeowner money, but even more importantly it helps the environment. Another example is insulation: by making sure we seal all air gaps, we keep homeowner costs down, and help the environment.

Another important aspect of green building is air quality. We make sure the chemicals and products we use do not emit toxic fumes. Not sure if what you’re using is eco-friendly? A good rule of thumb is if you can smell it, then you probably don’t want to use it in your home.
