Why You Need LED Lighting In Your Home

May 17, 2011

How did you select the lights in your home? Lighting is an important design element to consider during the redesign process. Most consumers want an option that is cost effective, energy efficient and produces strong light throughout the room, which is why we’ve started using LEDs as a standard in all our work at C.A.G.E. Design Build.

LED lighting lasts longer than incandescent bulbs and compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), and are free from toxic materials like mercury. We work with Cree LED Lighting to install LED lights in client homes; they’ve developed TrueWhite® Technology to generate white light in a simple, effective way.

Did you know that LED lights deliver the same amount of light using just 10-15% of the power as conventional technologies? An LED lighting product can replace a 65 watt light while using just 10.5 watts. These lights are designed to last as long as 50,000 hours, too – 50 times the life of most incandescent bulbs and 5 times the life of an average CFL.

LED lighting also has a higher color rendering which makes everything look more vibrant and lifelike. Homeowners can choose warm lighting (which provides a traditional and luxurious feel) or cool lighting (which brings a contemporary look).
